Tennessee CDL School Joins TUCA Middle Tennessee

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week runs September 13 through 19, a time set aside each year to recognize the drivers who keep goods and communities moving. In that same spirit, Tennessee CDL School has joined the Tennessee Utility Contractors Association (TUCA) of Middle Tennessee. The partnership connects our Nashville campus with a group of contractors, excavators, suppliers, and local leaders who work to strengthen the utility construction industry across the region.

Why Tennessee CDL School Joined TUCA

Priscilla Davis, co-founder of Tennessee CDL School, said the decision came down to shared values. TUCA’s focus on preparing the next generation for the workforce lines up closely with what her team does every day.

“We were drawn to TUCA’s commitment to the community and their focus on engaging the next generation entering the workforce, which aligns with our mission at Tennessee CDL School,” Davis said. “We also appreciate how the association brings community leaders together to address local needs first.”

Tennessee CDL School was founded by Shawn and Priscilla Davis during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the school has trained students in Nashville for careers in professional truck driving. Learn more about the school’s mission and team.

Building a Bridge Between Drivers and Local Businesses

Davis said one of her main goals in joining TUCA is to connect trained drivers with companies that need them. “We develop drivers who want to help local companies grow,” she said. “I am hoping to bridge the gap between local businesses and student drivers by providing capable, legally trained drivers and offering them the best career opportunities.”

That focus fits with the school’s broader approach to career support, which includes job placement help, resume support, and interview coaching for every graduate.

Getting Involved With TUCA Events and Programs

Membership in TUCA is not just a listing on a website. The school plans to show up where drivers, students, and future workers actually are. That starts this month with two TUCA-hosted events at The Barn in Gallatin, Tennessee: the Career Fair on September 17 and Dozer Day on September 19. Tennessee CDL School will bring a truck to both, giving attendees a close look at what CDL training involves and a chance to ask questions about starting a driving career.

Davis said her team hopes to showcase the school at these events and meet more people in the local industry. For professional truck drivers and those considering the career, this kind of visibility matters. It puts training programs directly in front of the people TUCA already works to support, from students exploring the trades to local companies looking for qualified drivers.

What This Means for Middle Tennessee

Trucking and utility construction depend on each other. Utility contractors need reliable drivers to move materials and equipment, and CDL graduates need employers who will give them a shot. By joining TUCA, CDL School Inc. hopes to help close that gap for companies and students across Middle Tennessee. Tennessee CDL School’s membership in TUCA is one more way the school works to connect trained drivers with the companies that need them.
