What to Expect From CDL Training?
Training is divided into classroom education, behind-the-wheel instruction, and on-road experience.
Classroom Education
Training starts with online classroom instruction. The curriculum focuses on passing the CDL exam by teaching fundamental vehicle knowledge, including pre-trip and post-trip inspection, vehicle maintenance, and essential rules of the road.
Behind-The-Wheel Training
Practical training ensures each student receives ample seat time
- Equipment: Students practice backing and steering on late-model Class A tractors. The training fleet includes vehicles with both manual and automatic transmissions
- Focus: Instructors provide the time necessary for students to become comfortable with basic maneuvers in the truck
Experience on the Road
Training goes beyond the yard by giving students time on public roads in both urban and rural settings. This practice prepares students to handle a variety of situations and helps them gain confidence with turning, space management, lane changes, and speed control.
