How to Pay for CDL Training
Starting truck driver training doesn’t have to break the bank. CDL School Inc. offers several payment options that let you spread out the cost or get help from other sources. This page explains each option so you can choose what works best for your situation.

Payment Options
Private Loans
A private loan is money you borrow from the bank or a lending company to pay for training. Here’s what you need to know:
How it Works
You borrow money, complete your training, and then pay the loan back with interest over time. The loan can cover your entire tuition or fill in gaps if you’re using other payment options too.
What to Do
Contact our admissions team to find out which lenders we work with, what interest rates they offer, and what the repayment terms look like.
In-House Financing
In-House financing lets you pay your tuition through monthly payments instead of all at once. We handle the payments directly – you don’t need to go through the bank.
How it Works
- Make a down payment at enrollment
- Pay remaining tuition in monthly installments
- Payments are automatically withdrawn from your bank account
What to Do
Ask our admissions team about current payment plan options and what the minimum down payment is for your program.
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Funds
WIOA is a grant program, which means you don’t pay the money back. It’s designed to help people who are unemployed or underemployed get training for a new job or career.
How it Works
WIOA covers tuition and training costs for eligible programs, including truck driver training. Each state runs the program a little differently, so who qualifies and how much funding is available depends on where you live.
What to Do
- Contact your state’s workforce agency to see if you qualify
- Or let your admissions team know you’re interested in WIOA. We can help you understand your options and guide you through the process
Company-Sponsored Funding
Some employers will pay for you to get your CDL. This happens in two ways:
Your Current Employer Sponsors Your Training
Your employer sends you to get your CDL as part of your job development and pays the cost.
A Trucking Company Sponsors Your Training
A trucking company or logistics business pay for your training and hire you after you complete the program.
What to Do
If your employer offers this benefit or you’ve been offered a job that includes paid training, let our admissions team know. We’ll work with your company to coordinate enrollment and payment.
It’s important to consider the return on investment of CDL training, since you can begin earning income as a truck driver shortly after completing the program.
